Nearly two weeks after Hurricane Helene brought untold devastation to the southern United States, the region is facing another extreme weather event, Hurricane Milton.
Mass evacuations are already underway in parts of Florida ahead of Milton’a expected landfall on Wednesday as a potential Category 4 storm. The National Weather Service has issued a warning of hurricane-force winds and a life-threatening storm surge along the west-central coast of the Florida Peninsula.
The Weather Channel’s Stephanie Abrams used the network’s FloodFX simulation technology to provide a visual demonstration for how dire the situation could become should the storm surge rise to nine feet and above.
